An Auto Scaling Group (ASG) does not have an IAM Role assigned. IAM Roles provide AWS credentials to access additional AWS services. Best practice is to provide credential access using an IAM role, not something defined from within the EC2 instance. Security best practice strongly recommends assigning an IAM Role to your ASG.
