Classic ELB is configured with HTTP as the listener. Classic Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) can be configured to listen on HTTP or HTTPS. HTTP is an unsecured connection while HTTPS is secured and encrypts traffic between the client and source. The HTTPS listener protocol should be used with your Classic ELB's.
