An AWS Key Management Service (KMS) key is disabled. Disabling a KMS key prevents use of the key for cryptographic operations to protect data. KMS allows you to generate cryptographic keys that you can use to protect data on instances, databases, snapshots, S3 and Redshift. KMS keys should be enabled to protect your data with encryption.
